Survivor: Asylum Island, Episode 01
Here is the result of my boredom and interest in two things together: Survivor (the TV show) and my RPG,
amplified_rpg. Have fun with this... it's a parody, and in no way serious at all.
Someone, probably Carver Greely, must have slipped something hallucination-inducing into Naomi’s tea the morning that she decided to pack up twenty medium security patients of Cherry Hollow and fly them off to four remote islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. “It’s a psychological experiment like no other,” was all she would say. And perhaps it was a marketing scheme to raise money for her institution, Cherry Hollow.
The patients were randomly divided into four “tribes” of five persons each. First there was the disorganized Thorazine Tribe, consisting of Alex Roth, Nadia Van Naustrum, Oscar Blake, Lucy Douglas, and Anthony Taylor. Secondly there was the clashing Xanax tribe, including Tatsuya Yamamoto, Lynne Sheridan, Kael Watt, Reginald Noir, and Cameron Skyes. On the third beach Reiley Rowan, Michael Anderson, Colleen Graves, Oktober Kavanagh, and Alaric Connor formed the Diazepam tribe, while on the fourth island, Kelsey Rathbourne, Joanie Jircitano, Asam Cohen, Melisande Sangreal, and Maddox Harding formed the Prozac tribe.
On each island, no tribe has any supplies. The first night was spent in the dark, cold, alone, and uncertain of what was to come.
The Diazepam Tribe immediately seemed to click, talking easily into the night after exploring their island. “We decided to sleep close for warmth,” explained twenty-three-year-old Kleptomaniac, Alaric Connor. “We’ve all had some strange relationships in the past, and that has allowed us to bond and feel closer.”
The Thorazine Tribe did not seem to be fairing nearly as well. “They’re all fucking crazy,” exclaimed frustrated Oscar Blake, the __ year-old Bipolar. “Anthony’s running around thinking that they dropped him here to keep him from finding his father, and the little girl is just flapping her hands yelling for popsicles! It’s ridiculous!”
Things were a bit quieter with the Prozac tribe. “We’re thinking maybe they just didn’t want us,” explains twenty year old OCD case Joanie Jircitano. “We must have done something to upset Dr. Graves, or she wouldn’t have abandoned us like this.” Four of the five tribe members huddled underneath a tree, while the fifth member, Melisande Sangreal, an eighteen year old Histrionic, paced about the island reasoning out loud. “This is stupid,” she announced. “No one dislikes me. She was probably just jealous.”
Disorganization is the key word over at the Xanax tribe. While Cameron Skyes, a twenty four year old Dysmorphic, and Kael Watt, twenty two year old PTSD case, seem to have bonded, the other three patients are keeping their distance. “I’d like to rename the tribe team Anthrax,” grins twenty three year old Sociopath, Tatsuya Yamamoto, “It’s just going to be deadly like that.”
The four tribes reconvene the next day on an island that is introduced to them as Asylum Island. Dr. Naomi Graves announces her plans for them. “It’s like a game,” she told them. “And the last person left in the game gets a million dollars, and a release form.” Several patients perk up at the suggestion of a release form.
Today there will be a reward and immunity challenge at the same time. Dr. Lancelot Moliere joins Graves to explain the rules. The tribes must race to assemble a puzzle boat using seven braces, then paddle the boat out and retrieve fire from a bonfire floating on a raft in the ocean. Then they must paddle back to shore and carry the boat braces and fire with them. After putting together yet another puzzle, they must use the braces to create a ladder, climb to the top of a platform and light their tribe fire bale. The first three tribes to the top win flint and immunity. As a bonus the tribe that comes in first wins a fire kit, kindling, waterproof matches and kerosene.
Dr. Moliere sounds a horn and the tribes begin racing down the beach to assemble their paddlesboats. Well, some of them race. Anthony began shouting, while Lucy flapped her arms and ran around in a circle. Prozac and Diazepam got an early lead with their paddle boats, assembling them quickly and heading out while Tatsuya refused to help Xanax, and Nadia Van Nasutrum attempted to collect her tribe members to even begin with their boat.
Eventually Tatsu gives in at the reminder of fire. It’s a close race between Prozac and Diazepam once they have retrieved fire. Eighteen year old Intermittent Explossive Alex Roth finally yells at Anthony, “If you ever want to see your fuckin’ father alive again, help us the fuck out, dickwad!” Anthony finally snaps together and the four of them build the paddleboat while Lucy flounders.
In the end it is Prozac that comes out ahead. Joanie admits the secret of her success, “I didn’t want to be a failure. I was afraid if we didn’t win, they wouldn’t like me.” They are followed closely by Diazepam, and then Xanax. Thorazine is unable to complete the race when Lucy simply cannot stay on the paddleboat. For their efforts, Prozac receives the fire making kit, while Xanax and Diazepam both receive flint, and Thorazine will be sent to the dreaded tribal council with no flint.
It’s not all bumps and bruises though. The Thorazine tribe is granted the power to send one patient to Asylum Island, an underground seclusion cell where the unlucky winner of this vacation is placed into a straight jacket and left without food, water, or sunlight for two days. Alex, Nadia, and Oscar conspire to send Iraqi War veteran Kael Watt, hoping to wear out his physical prowess.
Back at the Thorazine camp, Anthony paced about the beach while Nadia attempted to build a fire. Oscar and Alex agreed long enough to sit and strategize. “I’d like to get rid of that prissy fuck-tard,” Alex said of Anthony, but all three agreed that their best bet was to loose Lucy. “The booger is kinda cute, but she’s no help at all,” explained the IED. Oscar schemed to talk some sense into Anthony, “Just listen,” he told the Schizotypal boy, “If you win this game, if you’re a survivor, you’ll be able to see your father again. They just put you here to test you.” Anthony seems interested in this approach.
At tribal council, Lucy isn’t even able to light her own torch, relying on Alex for assistance. The tribe talks with Dr. Graves, who asks them questions about the first few days. “We’re disorganized,” Nadia admits. “A lot of us have really serious disorders,” she explained referring to herself, “So it’s a lot harder on us than those other tribes, that are a lot better off.”
It’s time for the vote, and it is a 4-1 decision (in fact, Lucy’s ballot read “balloon”). “The tribe has spoken,” Naomi says to Lucy. The little girl is lead away by Dr. Carver Greely, never to be seen again.
Next time on Survivor: Asylum Island One tribe plots to throw a challenge in order to get rid of a troublesome member. How will this strategy affect the course of the game? Find out next time… if you like it, anyway. Otherwise I’m not gonna write it and you’ll just never know!
