Survivor: Asylum Island, Episode 03
Previously, on Survivor: Asylum Island…

Twenty Cherry Hollow patients were divided into four tribes of five, stranded on separate islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It is said that this was to be a behavioral experiment. Tensions were raising at the Diazepam and Xanax camps. At the reward/immunity challenge, Xanax debated which member to sit out. In the end, Thorazine completes a stunning victory, winning them two tarps and immunity. Diazepam and Prozac also received immunity, and while Xanax won a trip to tribal council, they also received the choice to banish Alaric to Asylum Island.

Back at camp, Kael is furious with the outcome of the night’s tribal council. “I had hoped that they would see things my way. It’s better to have someone you don’t get along with than someone who is going to play deceitfully,” Kael spoke cruely of Reginald to Cameron.

“Kael has a sense of honor,” she confides later to tribemate, Lynne. “We didn’t trust his judgement, so now he’s pissed.”

At Thorazine, a grumpy Oscar is kept awake by story after story from Nadia. “I’ve had a lot of illnesses in the past,” she explains. “I mean, I’m lucky to be alive. I could be dead. I had yellow fever once, and it almost killed me.” Both Oscar and Alex want to sleep, and are annoyed at how easily Anthony was able to ignore the girl and drift off.

The four tribes are in for a surprise when they convene for their next challenge. To the shock and disbelief of all Survivors, Dr. Graves commands, "Drop your buffs. You have been living together as tribes divided based on your treatment plans. It is now time to integrate."

The survivors divided by men and women, and are instructed to close their eyes and hold out their hands. Naomi places a stone in everyone’s hand. When the survivors open their eyes, they find that two survivors (one man and one woman) have an X on their stone. These two are Michael Anderson and Colleen Graves. They go to different mats and will be the first members of the new tribes. Each ‘captain’ is to pick a new tribemate of the opposite gender, but also is to pick someone of a tribe that has not been represented in their own tribe yet.

Michael goes first, choosing Kelsey Rathbourne of the Prozac tribe. Colleen then chooses Kael, of Xanax. The next two members each continue the pattern, picking a member of the opposite sex from a tribe that has not been represented yet.

Through these selections, two new tribes are formed. The new Prozac tribe, consists of Michael, Kelsey, Reginald Noir, Nadia Van Naustraum, Alaric Connor, Joanie Jircitano, Alex Roth, Cameron Skyes, and Maddox Harding, while the new Diazepam tribe consists of Colleen, Kael, Melisande Sangreal, Oscar Blake, Oktober Kavanagh, Asam Cohen, Lynne Sheridan, Anthony Taylor, and Reiley Rowan.

Back at the new camp, the new Prozac tribe seems a bit scattered and confused. “There are so many people,” frets Social Phobic Maddox Harding. “I’m not sure what to make of it. I don’t want to get on anyone’s bad side.” The whole tribe, in fact, seems to be treading carefully.

Over at the new Diazepam camp, Oktober and Colleen quickly reconcile, pulling Kael in on their alliance. They pledge to stick together as far as they can to further themselves in the game. But they are outnumbered, three to six. “We have to pull someone in on our alliance,” explains Colleen. “Kael was on a tribe with Lynne, so he thinks he can pull them over.” Shy Lynne isn’t sure what to think of Kael’s approach, and sticks close to the one person she feels most comfortable with: Asam.

At Prozac, a frustrated Alaric sets to the ocean to fish. “I got separated from the people I trusted the most,” he laments. “No one has any work ethic on this tribe. When I come back, there will be no fire to cook the fish.” Sure enough, Alaric returns to a lifeless, fireless camp.

The two new tribes face off on the battlefield for the first time as Dr. Toby Holcomb explains the rules. The tribes will be clipped together by a rope carrying 15 pound sand bags each. They will start on opposite sides of the course, racing through knee-deep water to catch the other tribe. If a tribe member drops out they must give their 15 pounds to someone from their tribe, doubling that person's weight. The first tribe to tackle a member from the other tribe to the ground wins Immunity.

The challenge begins as the tribes tirelessly trudge through the water, attempting to make up ground on each other. In a strategic move, Diazepam decides to have all their women drop out in order for the men to run the course and catch Prozac. Despite their heroic attempts, Prozac proves too strong as all of their tribemates work together to dominate the challenge and tackle Diazepam.

Prozac wins Immunity and the right to send a member of the losing Diazepam tribe to Asylum Island. Prozac selects Anthony from the new Diazepam tribe, thus saving him from Tribal Council.

Back at camp, Kael desperately tries to convince Lynne to side with them. Melisande and Reiley are flirting with Oscar to win his vote, and Reiley even goes after Kael. Oktober and Colleen are disgusted by the two Histrionic girl’s flirtations. “I don’t want to make anyone mad,” laments Lynne. “Melisande was my roommate, I don’t want to vote out her friend. But if I don’t side with Kael, everyone else will be mad at me.” Lynne frets, confiding in Asam, “I don’t know what to do.”

At tribal council, Dr. Graves and Dr. Holcomb wonder how the tribe is geling together. “There seems to be a lot of hostility from the less pretty girls,” says Reiley. “They know they’re not the same calibur as some of us.” Oktober is furious, “Not all of us depend on sex to get what we want,” she counters. Naomi points out that the tribe’s interest seems conflicted, and it will be interesting to see how the vote plays out.

In the end, Reiley is voted out by five votes for her, to three for Oktober. “Clearly they saw me as a threat,” Reiley says rather hotly after being dismissed from her tribe and into Dr. Greely’s care. “Not only in a game, but to their men. They couldn’t handle me.”

Seventeen are left. Who will be voted out next?
