Survivor: Asylum Island, Episode 04
Previously, on Survivor: Asylum Island...

Of the twenty original survivors divided into four tribes, the remaining eighteen were merged into two tribes of nine each. Alaric is frustrated with his timid, non-active tribe mates, while the other tribe was frustrated with Reiley's flirtations. The two tribes came together to battle for immunity, but due to poor strategy, the Prozac tribe came out on top, receiving immunity and sending Anthony to Asylum Island, therefor protecting him from that night's Tribal Council. Back at camp, Lynne realized she was the swing vote, and in the end, sided with her former tribe mate Kael to make Reiley Rowan, the eighteen-year-old Histrionic Personality the third person voted out of the game.

A frustrated Melisande returns to camp and stomps around. "Reiley was my friend," she snaps. "Now I feel like I'm the outside. If they didn't like her for flirting, they're not going to like me just because I was her friends and we're very similar. It's stupid because I'm definitely an asset to the tribe, I don't think I should be the next to go."

Anthony returns from Aslyum Island acting very strung out. He snaps at his tribe mates and accuses several of them for trying to kill them. Oscar attempts to sooth the angry boy, but has little success. "I'm trying to keep Anthony under my thumb. He has great potential, physically, as a player, but he's too psychotic. I don't know how long I can keep him convinced to play the game for his father."

At the Prozac camp, the tribe attempts to rectify what been miserable sleeping conditions. Alaric emerges as a leader based on his time in the streets of New York, and attempts to instruct his tribe how to build a better shelty. "He can be really bossy, and he thinks he's always right," says Cameron, "It can be kind of annoying."

Still, Alaric points out, "They can't vote me off. I'm the one that feeds their mouths. They depend on me."

Diazepam and Prozac meet on the battlefield to square off for Reward where Dr. Thahn-le explains the rules of the game. Each tribe will have two tribe members attached by belt to a rope, which snakes over, under and around a series of obstacles. The rest of the tribe will push and pull their two tribe members, attached to the rope, through the course. Once the entire tribe reaches the end of the rope, one person from each tribe will swim out to a barrel where they will retrieve a decoding wheel, bring it back to the tribe mat and use that decoder wheel to decipher one phrase. The tribe that solves the phrase first wins the Reward of three blankets, two pillows and one hammock. In addition, the winning tribe will send a member of the losing tribe to Exile Island. Nadia, from the Prozac tribe, had asked to be the one to sit out in order to have even numbers, on account of a severe stomach ache.

The challenge begins with Joanie and Cameron attached by belt to a lengthy rope for the Prozac Tribe, while Colleen and Lynne are belted to their rope for the Diazepam tribe. Both tribes are neck and neck at the first obstacle, tumbling over the tall course and sliding through the sand under beams and poles. Prozac quickly gains the lead working together as Diazepam wastes time arguing over strategy. Once to the end of the rope, Alaric helps to give Prozac an even bigger lead as he glides swiftly through the water, retrieving the decoder wheel. Diazepam comes from behind, making up time as Kael also sails through the water to retrieve Diazepam's decoder wheel. But Prozac solves the phrase first, winning the creature comfort of pillows, blankets and hammock. The victorious Prozac happily sends Kael from Diazepam back to Exile Island.

Disappointed by their loss, Colleen, Oktober, and Melisande spent the afternoon fishing. "I'm trying to get in on someone's good side and show that I'm a strong player," Melisande points out in a confessional. "They might like Lynne's personality better, but I'm a stronger player in the challenges." The girls seem to bond at least a little as they try to find some food while Kael is away at Asylum Island.

"I know he's suffering," Oktober tells the girls. "We've become close in the past few days, and he told me how he suffers from flashbacks about being a POW in the war. I'm sure that it's absolute torture for him to be in a little seclusion cell."

The Prozac tribe, on the other hand, is celebrating their good fortune. "After two days of sleeping on the hard ground, I can't even begin to tell you how wonderful a pillow feels," says Michael, nervously kicking at the dirt. "There's a hammock, and blankets... it's wonderful."

Alaric rejoices for another reason. "At least we've shown that we can pull together and work as a tribe," he nods his head in approval. "They really need me to provide for them, but we're strong at the challenges, and the victory has brought us together as tribe mates."

The next day, Prozac and Diazepam reconvene for their next Immunity Challenge where Dr. Josaiah Davids explains the rules. Four tribe members from each tribe will assemble a stretcher puzzle and race though the jungle with the stretcher to the beach. Once there, one tribe member will swim out to rescue another tribe member shackled to the top of a mast in a straight jacket. Both members will swim back to the beach while holding onto a life ring, place the rescued tribe member on the stretcher and race back through the jungle to their starting mat. There, the remaining three tribe members must build a fire tall and strong enough to burn through a rope and raise the tribe's flag. First tribe to raise their flag wins Immunity and is safe from Tribal Council. Maddox, from the Prozac tribe, will be sitting out so that there are even numbers.

On Josaiah's 'Go,' the tribes race to their puzzle stretchers. Michael, Reginald, Alaric, and Alex quickly assembles the stretcher for the Prozac tribe, sprinting through the jungle with a solid lead. With their stretcher now assembled, Diazepam makes it to the beach while Alaric, well on his way through the water to his mast for Prozac, is lapped by Anthony from Diazepam, who glides past Alaric to reach his mast first. Anthony is swimming in place of Kael, who is far too weak after two days on Asylum Island. No one is quite sure where Anthony's stunning swimming skills have come from. Suddenly Diazepam is in the lead as Anthony quickly rescues Melisande, swims back to shore and dashes through the jungle back to their mat. Prozac falls further behind as Alaric frees Kelsey from the mast and they swim back to shore. Once Prozac reaches their mat, Nadia, Joanie, and Cameron quickly start on their fire. But it isn't enough for Prozac; Colleen, Oktober, and Lynne's expert fire-making skills ignite Diazepam's fire, burning through the rope and raising the Diazepam flag first. They win Immunity and are saved from the dreaded Tribal Council.

Prozac numbly makes it back to camp. "We were all hyped up from our past two wins, I think we made the mistake of thinking that we were invincible," laments Kelsey. "We're all so close now, I don't know who we can possibly vote out without feeling horrible about it."

"This is fuckin' stupid!" Alex, feeling paranoid, stomps about the camp. "I don't wanna vote no one the fuck off. This game is lame!"

His bad attitude quickly becomes the target of Alaric and his only alliance member, Joanie. "I want to win," Alaric tells his female companion. "I don't want to put up with a little irresponsible kid that's just going to pull us down." Joanie approaches Maddox and Cameron to help vote the self-concious boy out.

While Alex mopes, Nadia quickly works to rectify the situation, appealing to the better sides of Kelsey and Reginald. "We have to vote out Alaric while we can," she tells him. "He's decietful and manipulative, and a strong player. We have to vote him out while we have the chance." Kelsey and Reginald seem to consider, making Michael the swing vote.

At Tribal Council, Dr. Josaiah Davids and Dr. Naomi Graves ask a few questions about the game strategy at this point. "It's all about keeping the strong players together so that we win the challenges," Alaric says, hoping to remind any of his doubting tribe members about this. "If we don't have strong players, we're just going to keep coming back to Tribal Council, and no one wants that."

Alex is fidgeting with irritation in his seat. "There shouldn't fuckin' be Tribal Councils," he says with annoyance. "That's what makes this damn game fuckin' stupid."

In the end, his tribe mates side with Alaric, hoping to keep from coming to Tribal Council again in the future, and Alex is voted out with a stunning seven to two vote, only Nadia sticking by her former tribe mate.

"I didn't wanna play this fuckin' game anyway," Alex's parting words try to make up for his disappointment in being voted out. "It was fuckin' stupid, I just didn't wanna play, I'm glad they voted me the fuck out of there."

Sixteen are left. Who will be voted out next?
